How To Get Your First Taste (Or Maybe Second Or Third) Of Making Money Online

by Bill on June 3, 2009

If you’re struggling to make those first few dollars online, or to make a few extra dollars online, I understand how you feel. It wasn’t too long ago that I was in your shoes.

In fact, I still work constantly on adding a little more passive income to my existing streams. OK, a LOT would be nice, but I find that sometimes a little extra is more motivating and long lasting.

So, I’m going to share with you a few of the methods I’ve used to make cash quickly online. All I ask is that you do me (and yourself) a favor…

Don’t beat yourself up when you’re not instantly pulling in an extra $10,000 per month, OK?

Is it possible? Yes.

Is it probable? No.

The trouble is that you can get yourself awfully discouraged pretty quickly by setting your goals too high. But think about this…

If you were able to bring in an extra $20 per WEEK, do you think that would be a good start? Would you congratulate yourself for that accomplishment?

You SHOULD!

That’s $80 per month, which can pay to have your grass cut (so you can spend more time on your business), or go towards your car or house payment, or whatever.

So, please, if you increase your income in a way that you can expand, or that leverages your time, or is maybe just your first taste of online income, celebrate a little bit! Be happy! Congratulate yourself! I don’t recommend bragging to your friends and family just yet (you can save that for when you’re pulling in a few hundred a day and walk away from your job ;-) , but don’t beat yourself up when you’re not a millionaire after your first week, OK?

OK.

So, how are we gonna make you some money quickly?

Two methods:

  1. Freelance work on sites like guru.com or elance.com
  2. Selling a product or service as a Warrior Special Offer (WSO) on the Warrior Forum

Freelance Work

Doing freelance work for others will do several things for you:

  1. It may get you a first taste of making money with your computer, over the internet.
  2. It will give you a glimpse into what other people are doing in their businesses – not just in the internet marketing field, but in lots of other fields.
  3. It will help you improve existing skills or possibly learn some new ones.

Simply go to a site like guru.com (which is one of my favorites, because of the variety of work available and the amount you can get paid), or elance.com, register as a freelancer (NOT an employer), and start bidding on work you believe you can do.

Look at what others are bidding on. Look at their profiles. Can you do the same or better?

What if you have NO SKILLS?

First of all, let me say, “B.S.!” If you are reading this post, you have a skill – reading posts. I’m totally serious. You are a proofreader. You are an internet researcher. You are learning in this moment.

If you see some jobs more popular than others, consider learning a few new skills in that area. Find some YouTube videos or free online tutorials (both of which are widely available these days) and learn something! Bid very low to start, since you are a total beginner, but advertise it as an introductory rate so people don’t take advantage of your prices forever.

Warrior Special Offers

This is one of the methods that has made me some decent money, and I like it because it can be very fast money right into your PayPal account. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Login or register at http://warriorforum.com
  2. Start posting in the general forum. Don’t spam, don’t argue, just post thoughtful, helpful, conversation-building replies every day. You’ll need at least 30-50 posts before they accept your WSO (which costs $20 to post, by the way), so aim to have somewhere around 50-100 posts if you’re just starting out. Just do a little each day.
  3. Go to Clickbank.com and find the top products in 2 or 3 different categories – like health, or home, or whatever. Make notes of what those products are about.
  4. Go to EzineArticles.com and put in keywords related to one of those hot topics. Make copies of the best, most-read, or your favorite articles that you find. Keep these copies in a folder on your hard drive.
  5. Write 15-20 of YOUR OWN articles (don’t plagiarize) about one of those topics. “WHOAH…WAIT JUST A MINUTE! What do you mean write 15-20 articles?!” That’s what I’m hearing you say to me. Guess what, this will take some work, but it’s not all that difficult. This might take you 7-10 hours total, maybe a bit more. Model the articles after the ones you found. Save each article to a TXT file on your computer, then put all of them into a Zip file (“Compressed Folder” on Windows, or just Google for a Zip program to help you).
  6. Sell these articles as a package on the WSO forum for $17 or $27. “Are you kidding?” I can hear you again! “I work for 10 hours and make $17!?” NO. You work for 10 hours and you make 5 or 10 or 20 sales at $17 each, which earns you as much as $34 per hour for your time.

You will have to find out how to post to the WSO forum, how to setup a PayPal payment link, and possibly use Zip software, but you can do this. If all these really get you stuck, just leave a comment, and I’ll do my best to help you out.

None of this is very hard. Yes, it will take some time, and you won’t get it done in one day.

But it’s very likely that the day your WSO goes live, you end up with an extra $100 or $200 in your PayPal account. If you have a PayPal debit card (I think you should), you now have money for groceries, gasoline, or a little fun!

Now, to some of you, these methods probably seem laughably simple. And guess what?

They are.

But they work. Try ‘em. You’ll like ‘em.

I did.

I really appreciate that you keep coming back to my site, it's loyal people like you that make what I do worth it. If you have any questions feel free to email me. Oh, and since you obviously like our site it'd be great if you could share it with a friend... They'll love you for it!

Hey Bill, Some great tips! I think too many people get caught up in trying to make a lot of money all at once but a little at a time here and there still all adds up.

The new blog is looking good!

Thanks Red. Yeah, I’ve been there myself. “Why am I not making $50,000 this month?! It’s already been 5 days that I started this project!” I just have to tell myself: Simma. Down. Now.

Cool post, Wow 30-50 posts in Warrior Forum, I better start cracking. I have about 10 Now, so 20 more shouldn’t be a problem.

I like this part on what you said:

Look at what others are bidding on. Look at their profiles. Can you do the same or better?

And

What if you have NO SKILLS?

First of all, let me say, “B.S.!” If you are reading this post, you have a skill – reading posts. I’m totally serious. You are a proofreader. You are an internet researcher. You are learning in this moment.

I think I went on one Out Sourcer site and they wanted just their own people from their country do it. I forgot which one. But anyway, I will try Elance and Guru and see if that works for me. I do website design and little Java Programming.

Excellent advice for income Outsourcing your talent and The articles on WSO.

I will also try Pay per post articles. I am trying to concentrate on Search Engine Optimization right now. But that will be on my immediate hit list to create multiple streams of income.

thanks for the quality post.

Ray.

Thanks Ray. Yeah, I remember just getting onto the WSO forum and spending an hour or two just posting for a few nights in a row, because I knew I wanted to do a WSO within the week. Just takes a little focus. Good luck!
